= MIRAS
Formerly, an arrangement allowing income tax relief to be given to a mortgagor on the first £30,000 of a loan taken out to purchase a main residence. Introduced in 1982 to encourage home ownership, it was progressively restricted from 1994 and abolished in 2000.
